one humble emperor

Weekend hiking visited the emperor's tomb of old period at the top of Kyoto's mountain. Before he died,he ordered to his subordinate not to hold funeral ceremony.Instead he left his will to have his bone crushed and spread it around that mountain's top area.He was the only emperor in Japan to have it done so.Though there're some great persons who have done similarly,it's a wonder that no one else but the emperor himself being so humble in spite of his royal position.

Nobunaga's attacking Hiei temple

There is a weekly history drama on air featuring about warrior period's hero legend. In Japan there are three representative loads that attract much respect from many Japanese as success story heroes. However, when we look at them from different aspect, they don't necessary deserve it.

About last night's story, famous load Nobunaga had done incredibly cruel thing to Buddhism believers living around Hiei temple that is most symbolic Buddhism temple in Japan. He ordered his subordinates to kill all people around there including women or children. One reason he did it was just because those monks offered shelters to the warriors who are enemies of Nobunaga.
As you can easily imagine because of his dictatorial behavior, Nobunaga was also killed later by his former subordinate who insisted at that temple incident that killing innocent and religious people is not good idea. Common idea for that subordinate Mitsuhide is,however, that he is a bad person who betrayed his respectable boss.

Back to our current society, our prime minister also respects that dictatorial load and he also is doing his way like that load did, though I admit that they can be equally evaluated for their drastic measures that no one else has ever done before. We shouldn't look more into what's really true, without believing blindly what people say.

Story about one temple in Kyoto

Story about one temple in Kyoto.Last weekend I took my parents to Kyoto sightseeing tour by my car.Jakkouin temple suffered from fire incident which burnt whole architecture as well as every precious treasures inside the hall by arson just recently around a ten years ago.One good luck out of such misfortune was that temple's design in detail was measured and kept by national treasure curators and that they rebuilt it sincerely following after that design without inches difference.

When we visited that temple,I off course felt disappointed first since it doesn't seem to have any ancient atmosphere with such newly built model. However when we learnt the truth that it was around 1000 years ago when it suffered arson and restored first time,we could feel the period of its first built after arson more vividly, on the contrary.THat era was know as one of historic transient period when a Shogunate first replaced the Emperor to reign the country in Japan, while the originally founded time of that temple dates back to another 400 years since that time! What a long history we have! That temple was know that one of the royal family stayed until she died living quietly apart from real world, who survived the battle that beat Emperor warriors declaring Shogunates' victory.

Now we're facing our own new transient period. We should learn various things from many stages of our history.

most respectable hero for me

What I respect most among historic heroes is Ryohma Sakamoto who ranked third in the previous TV program deciding who is the most popular hero. However, the episode introduced in the program didn't reflect his true greatness.Yes,it's true that he was very sensitive in brand new fashion at that time but what impressed me most is that he didn't stick to any power or position when the new government was about to be built and they had to decide the key Diet member, though no one denies that he is the most contributor for them to have new society. His mind was as wide as the ocean.

funny episode about a great hero

Ieyasu who established long peaceful Edo period has only once beaten in the battle against famous warrior Kenshin who governed current Nagano prefecture. He ran away from the battle field back to his residential Hamamatsu castle and the opponent warrior Kenshin ran after him and was about to rush into that castle by breaking its front gate. Then Ieyasu who has already prepared for the death kindly opened that gate for him. However, this defiant action out of the sense of resignation made Kenshin suspicious on the contrary if there might be some trap behind and made him decided to retreat from there. If it were not for Kenshin's misconception, the history must have been different.
There is more to it.After Kenshin's retreat,to his surprise Ieyasu found his pants having shit out of terrible fear for death. What's funny story besides it was that he let his subordinate draw a picture of his having shit for terror and it is said that he always looked at his funny portrait whenever he becomes discouraged in order to brace himself up again.

Nobynaga or Mitsuhide

THere was a TV program featuring one of Japanese representative loads Nobunaga that intends to reveal his true character.

This TV style is unique that picks up one historic hero every time and also put his worthy rival for reference. Therefore, that program is proceeded by the style of having two panelist insist each historic hero and let the TV viewers decide which one support.

In Nobunaga and his worthy rival Mitsuhide's case, the vote from the viewers had vivid change before and after the panelists' debate ended.

Generally believed story is what I told in the previous posting.

We should not have prejudice without examining background behind generally believed story.
